bar miyako is still on shortened operating hours of 6pm to 10pm this week, but hopefully, this won’t last much longer. In the meantime, we can still celebrate the cooler, crisper evenings with some really good bourbon and/or rye whiskey, so please stop by if you’re in the neighborhood!
Pictured is Michter’s, which many of you already know and love. While now a Kentucky bourbon, the distillery, which has been around since the days of the American Revolutionary War, was originally located in Pennsylvania, with rumors that George Washington purchased the spirit to help warm his troops at Valley Forge. A bourbon straight out of history!
The long weekend is over, but have no fear! bar miyako has lots of fun and exciting spirits to get you through the week, including Legent, a unique blended bourbon created in collaboration with Japan’s Suntory and US’ Beam Suntory, maker of Jim Beam.
Fred Noe, a seventh-generation Master Distiller of Jim Beam and Shinji Fukuyo, the fifth Chief Blender for Suntory, worked together on Legent, which is a blend of three Jim Beam bourbons: one finished in traditional oak and two which are secondary cask finished in sherry and red wine barrels. The different casks give the bourbon layers of different flavors, such as fruit and spice and oak, making it a complex but well-balanced (and lovely) spirt. Please drop by for more details or for a taste if your interest is piqued!
This week, bar miyako is closed on Monday, February 24 for a national holiday, but open as usual from 7pm to 1am on all other weekdays and from 7pm to 12 on Saturday. Hope to see you all back at the bar soon!
