bar miyako and new gins

bar miyako has three new unique gins! Geometric Gin (photo left) from South Africa, Blurry Moon (center) from France and Hidden World Chili Gin (right) from New Zealand. With the current atmosphere making overseas travel a bit difficult, why not stay in Tokyo and experience the world’s gins at the bar?

Geometric, made from grape spirit and infused with botanicals picked from the mountains of the Western Cape, is a crisp, dry gin named after the critically endangered local Geometric Tortoise .

Blurry Moon, packaged in a lovely moon-like sphere, is a small-batch organic gin created by a French Armagnac maker. Infused with quinine, the gin is herbaceous with a slightly bitter kick.

Hidden World Chili is infused with the Carolina Reaper, the Guinness record holder for world’s hottest pepper. As you can imagine, it’s HOT (smokin’!) but could be highly addictive for those who like a little spice in their lives so please stop by if your interest is piqued.

This week, bar miyako is open as usual from 7pm to 1am Monday to Friday, so I hope to see you all at the bar! Just a note regarding Saturday closings – this month, I’m closed on Saturday March 7 and 21. Apologies for any inconvenience, but thank you so much for your understanding.

bar miyako and hot gin

As the evenings get colder, why not warm up with a hot gin toddy – a simple  cocktail that draws out gin’s various aromas and flavors?

Almost any gin can be enjoyed hot, but Le Gin by Christian Drouin, a well-known Calvados producer, is especially lovely! The base spirit is made from 30 varieties of cider apple and the botanicals include lemon, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla and almond, a perfect match with the lemon, cloves and cinnamon garnishes of a toddy. Please stop by for a taste if your interest is piqued!

This week, bar miyako is open as usual from Monday to Thursday from 7pm to 1am, but please just note that we will be closed on Friday, November 23 due to a national holiday, and will also be closed on Saturday, November 24. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you at the bar!
