今週は、知る方ぞ知る#barmiyako の隠れた人気者、アマラスのメスカルのご紹介です!


お店には、アガベの中で唯一畑での栽培が可能な品種 ESPADIN から作られた度数が少し低めでなめらかな口当たりのものと、アガベ野生種の中でもちょっとマニアックな品種セニソ(Cenizo) から作られた2種類のアマラス社のメスカルがございます。蒸し暑くなってきたこの季節、ラムの代わりにモヒートにしても最高ですので、ご興味のある方はぜひお店で!


This week, we’re focusing on a lesser-known, hidden favorite of bar miyako patrons, Amaras Mezcal.

Mezcal, like tequila, is made from agave plants. But as artisanal mezcal is made by cooking the agave with wood fire ground ovens, it has smokiness with a hint of roasted coffee beans that sets it apart from tequila.

We have two types of Amaras mezcal: Espadin, which has a smooth feel and slightly lower alcohol content, and Logia, which is made from the rare Cenizo agave. The smoky spirits are actually great in mojitos, which are perfect for hot and muggy days, so please stop by if your interest is piqued!

This week, we’re introducing a rare Mexican distilled spirit, Bacanora, made from agave in Sonora, northern Mexico. Using a method handed down for generations, the agave is cooked in an underground oven with mesquite and oak and after a wild fermentation, distilled twice in stainless and copper stills.

At the bar, we have Yoowe Bacanora, a lovely spirit with an herbal and spicy aroma of jalapenos and a smoky taste that leads into a pleasantly sweet and clean finish. Please stop by if your interest is piqued!
