#barmiyako では多くのクラフトジンをご用意していますが、今週ご紹介するのは、2009年にロンドンで創業したシップスミス社のジンです。銅製の超小型蒸溜器を使用しているのが特徴で、ロンドンで銅製の蒸溜器が稼動したのは1820年以来とのこと。蒸溜器の形状が白鳥に似ていることからこのようなラベルのデザインになったそうですが、蒸溜器にはなんとお茶目にもコンスタンス、プルーデンス、ペイシャンスという女性の名前もついているとのことです。

Among the many craft gins available at bar miyako, Sipsmith gin is made by a microbrewery established in London in 2009 using traditional copper pot stills – the first copper-pot distillery to open in the city since 1820. The gin is made in small batches using three different stills, charmingly named Constance, Prudence and Patience. The swan necks on these lady stills are said to be the inspiration behind the firm’s iconic label design.
From left: the crisp London Dry Gin, the turbo-charged V.J.O.P (Very Junipery Over Proof), made with more than twice the juniper used in the Dry Gin and packing a nice punch at 57.7% ABV, and the Raffles 1915, made with Asian botanicals such as jasmine and lemongrass especially for the Raffles Hotel in Singapore, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Singapore Sling cocktail.
